The
test center is the main administrative department for the measurement
and test management system. It is responsible for the physical and chemical
testing, measurement and detection system and flaw detection administration
and technical supervision for the whole works. 
The test center of Ziyang locomotive Works which is located on the right hand of the headquarters, covers an area of 4500 m2, with constant temperature room area of 650 m2 and green area of 800 m2. It has a beautiful environment and many advanced equipment.
The test center was awarded “first class national qualified enterprise” and “second class physical and chemical testing unit” by the Loric of the railway ministry in 1998. In 1990 it was awarded the title “advanced national testing unit”. In 1997 it passed the evaluation approval of “ enterprise completed testing and detection system” by the National Quality Technical Supervision Bureau in 1997. In 2002 it became a member of “national test, detection, service unit”. In December of 2002 it passed the reexamination certification of ISO 10012 metrological and detection system.
The center has an administration office and several laboratories such as :length measurement laboratory, instrument measurement laboratory ,thermodynamic measurement laboratory ,chemistry analysis laboratory , metallographic analysis laboratory , mechanics property laboratory, flaw-detect laboratory and mechanical process group. A welding laboratory is now under construction. Among them the metallographic analysis and geometry measure want are in the lead position in the southwest of china.
There are 81 employees in the center, Among them 9 senior engineers, 13 engineers ,15 assistant engineers, 2 technicians, 24 metrological and test workers and 7 sample process workers.
There are 130 sets of large equipment in the center of the works, The works has established 26 highest metrological standards. In the center
there
are large scale equipment such as :LEITZ PMM866 Coordinate Measuring Machine,
HP5528A Laser Measuring System, HFR1300 Lead and Profile Measuring Machine,
OPTON UMM200 Universal Measuring Microscope,FMS2100,SERIES Ⅱ Form Measuring
System and FLUKE5720A Multi-funtionn Calibrator. Heat treatment temperatrue
measuring system made by the works, SOLAAR2 atomic absorption spectrograph
made in America, WFX-1F2B atomic absorption spectrophotometer by beijing
, direct reading spectrograph made in Amercia, CS-244 infrared carbon-sulphur
instrument, WAW-Y500 computer control universal testing machine and NEOPHOT-32
horizontal metalloscope.
With serving the factory, facing the society, technical developing and creation as its aims the test center will provide high quality service for all customer based on advanced equipments, methods and professional personnels.
Its targets are fair behavior, scientific method, accuracy data, high speed and high efficiency
Its object is to build a national standard laboratory which is shared of resources ,equipments ,information.
