GK1C diesel locomotive is another developed series product based
on Type GK1 locomotive, suitable for the shunting and transfer operations
in railways, metallurgical and petrochemical enterprises, ports,
local lines etc.
In the locomotive are installed a Type
6240ZJ medium-speed diesel engine rated at 990kW in vehicle and
a Type ZJ4014GY hydraulic transmission box with hydraulic reversing
and multiple-step gearings. The engine is the series product of
Type 16V240ZJB diesel engine (used on Type DF4B locomotive). All
the main part and components in the engine are interchangeable.
The transmission box can meet the requirements of shunting and transfer
operation because of its performance of hydraulic reversing. With
the walking way at each side, the locomotive has the running part
consisting of two sets of exchangeable two-axle bogie. Fuel tank
is suspended in the middle of the locomotive between two bogies.
The driver¡¯s cab can provide a better looking-out condition and
has good sound insulation. In order to suit for the severe conditions
such as high temperature, cold climate, dusty areas, the locomotive
is provided with high-efficiency engine inlet air filter and air
The locomotive is characterized by
higher transmission efficiency, good starting and accelerating performance,
flexible reversing, easy controlling, reliable operation and good
adaptability. This type of locomotive has been chosen as the finalized
diesel shunting locomotive by petrolchemical departments in China.
